The DreamMakers Project

The DreamMakers are a devoted group of community volunteers whose explicit purpose is to develop the yet unnamed community youth center at 2755 W. 15th Street in Los Angeles. The center has been established in the Byzantine-Latino Quarter, just southwest of downtown, L.A.'s most densely populated neighborhood, one of the lowest income areas in the City or County, a neighborhood with many schools and churches but surrounded and victimized by a host of gangs.

With the help of the The DreamMakers, the Byzantine-Latino Quarter Foundation (BLQF) is currently renovating and seeking funding to complete the remodeling and equip the center. At the same time, BLQF is already operating a number of programs including gang prevention through many innovative projects like home visits, street outreach, substance abuse prevention, volunteer neighborhood beautification days, family gatherings; healthcare for the uninsured; summer camps; food service skills development; personal growth and character development through drama, art and music.

Our goal is to make dreams come true for youngsters trapped in poverty and hopelessness, to help them aspire and excel in all aspects of life by reinforcing the importance of education, developing good interpersonal relationships, innate personal talents, and teaching employable skills.
