Boomtown 2006

SHARE, Inc. honored veteran TV producer and Emmy winner Marcy Carsey at their 53nd annual “Boomtown Party” gala May 20, 2006 at the Hollywood Palladium. Proceeds from the yearly fundraiser, which topped over $1 million, benefit nearly a dozen non-profit organizations that provide assistance to children and young people in need. Army Archerd, long-time Variety columnist and 2005 recipient of SHARE’s Legacy Award introduced legendary comedienne and SHARE supporter Phyllis Diller, who made the award presentation to Carsey. Carsey’s hit shows include “That '70s Show”, “The Cosby Show”, “A Different World”, “Roseanne”, “3rd Rock From The Sun”, “Grace Under Fire”, “Cosby” and “Cybill.”

The SHARE Ladies, arrayed in multi-hued costumes and headdresses, wowed the crowd with a full-scale, “Copa Cabana” song and dance production, complete with a Havana nightclub-style set. Headling the evening’s entertainment was multi-platinum recording artist k.d. lang, who alternately wooed and thrilled the audience with her inimitable and varied performance. Besides winning four Grammy awards, lang is also the recipient of a number of other industry honors including the MTV Video Award, American Music Award and the Juno (Canadian Grammy).
