What: CASA of Los Angeles and SHARE Inc. align their missions and collective experience, which spans over 84 years, to enrich the lives of discarded foster girls at the 7th Annual Glamour Gown Dress Giveaway. CASA of Los Angeles and SHARE Inc, have partnered to give away thousands of colorful gowns made of sequins, satin, silk and other luxurious fabrics that have poured in for ALL Los Angeles County foster girls that are attending high school. Generous donations were made by Chinese Laundry, Windsor Fashions, ABS Dresses, Spanx, Smashbox Cosmetics and Duwop. “The dresses are particularly special to us because they were valuable mementos donated by someone who kept their formal gown for sentimental reasons and now decided that our cause is important enough to share a piece of their history with our girls” said Teresa Luna, Executive Program Director of CASA. This year, Glamour Gowns was sponsored by SHARE INC., passionate and dedicated to raising funds and social awareness for the developmentally disabled, abused and neglected children by SHARE INC. To work hands-on like this is one of the most rewarding parts,” states Dolores Nemiro, President of SHARE, Inc. “In many of the facilities that we fund, you can’t be hands-on because it takes a professional. We adored this day!” Why: Glamour Gowns provided over 500 formal gowns and coordinating accessories to young women in foster care so that she may attend a special event such as prom. Glamour Gowns provides dresses, while also building self-esteem, self-confidence and, most of all, the feeling of self worth. It is a heartfelt enrichment event which enables young ladies to be a princess for a day.
