Los Angeles, CA – June 6, 2008 - 600 guests attended RAZZLE DAZZLE! SHARE’S 55th Anniversary Boomtown Gala on Saturday, May 31 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. Huge banners with highlights from past Boomtown Galas transformed the walls of the auditorium into a memory lane of star-studded galas. $1.3 million was raised on this one night.
The evening featured cocktails, live and silent auction, sit-down dinner and entertainment by CLINT HOLMES (Voted Best All-Around Entertainer in Las Vegas), 2007 Tony Award Winner and ventriloquist JAY JOHNSON, dancers from “SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE”, and the fabulous dancing SHARE LADIES . NIGEL LYTHGOE, Executive Producer of “American Idol” was honored with “The Shining Spirit Award”. Lythgoe was introduced by GOOD DAY L.A’s Steve Edwards and Dorothy Lucey and he received a standing ovation for the record $130 million he has help raise with “IDOL GIVES BACK”.
Celebrity guests included Loni Anderson with her son Quinton Reynolds, Laura San Giacomo, Ruta Lee, Robert Culp, Jack Jones, Jack Carter, Tom Bosley, Cesar Millan (Dog Whisperer) Jodie Sweetin (Full House, Yes Dear) Katerina Graham (Star opposite Zac Efron in Seventeen) and Latin TV host Guillermo Huesca (Univision’s “Hecto Tracto”).
KNBC’s Fritz Coleman led a spirited live auction and a full bred, miniature poodle stole the show with the top bidder paying $8,000 and promptly naming the puppy “Ruta”. Coleman split the bidding on a certificate for a 2 hour In-Home Consultation with Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan – 2 competing bidders agreed to pay $20,000 each for the service. A walk-on role on CBS’s #1 Hit Drama NAVY NCIS was also popular.
SHARE President Dolores Nemiro presented Esther Rosenfield with the “Member Of The Year Award and SHARE member Nancy Gregory was show director and choreographer with Gary Smith producing. 21 SHARE members performed a sizzling dance montage featuring rumba and tango and later in the evening performed a dance number with Clint Holmes. This year SHARE ladies wore new red and black vests paired with black studded or velvet Not Your Daughter’s Jeans donated by George Rudes of NYDJ.
